Michael Cummings is a marketing and public relations veteran responsible for the Kellen Company’s brand marketing and new business outreach. Prior to Kellen, Michael owned a brand-consulting firm where his clients included Polo/Ralph Lauren, Nokia/Vertu, FreshDirect, Town Sports International (New York Sports Club), Madame Tussaud’s and The Corcoran Group (Cendant.)
An early Internet advocate, Michael was a co-founder of Web site development company Internet Resource Alliance, before its 1996 sale to Organic, Inc. More recently, Michael was the first head of business development at Omnicom-owned marketing agency Cone, Inc. where he specialized in brand consulting, strategic public relations and online marketing for pre-IPO companies and global media brands. “I planned and implemented the strategic packaging and marketing of businesses and products in such a manner as to achieve my clients’ objectives,” Michael said. “Most frequently IPO or acquisition.” His clients included About.com, iVillage, Condé Nast, Hearst, Dunkin’ Donuts and Gillette.
Raised in New York City and Westchester County, Michael was awarded his BA from New York University’s Gallatin School and his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. His first taste of public relations came during a five-year stint on the award-winning in-house publicity team at Barneys New York where he was responsible for the planning and execution of events, most notably the CFDA/Vogue Seventh on Sale benefit. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York where he spends most of his free time working on his 100-year-old limestone house.
